Summer libations: Karlsson’s Classic Serve



In the final instalment of our series on how to make the most of your cocktail shaker over the summer season, Amanda Baxter keeps things simple with a classic presentation of the purest of spirits, vodka.

The arrival of Jersey Royals in supermarkets signals summer’s arrival. Whether fresh and herby potato salads or boiled potatoes slathered with butter, the season’s (seasoned) spuds provide the inspiration for this classic drink.

The simplicity of this cocktail highlights the exacting standards of the team behind Karlsson’s, drawing maximum flavour from the locally-sourced potatoes. Born from a passion to revive Sweden’s traditions of using potato as a base, we are particularly proud of the vodka we work with, Karlsson’s Gold from Sweden. They deliberately don’t filter the spirit to retain its creamy texture and rich flavour. The addition of pepper adds a spicy kick to contrast the soft, round spirit.

Karlsson’s Classic Serve

Pour 35ml of Karlsson’s Gold vodka into a rocks glass (also known as an Old Fashioned glass) over lots of big ice cubes.

Add freshly-grated black pepper over the top.

Serve and enjoy.
