Into the Wilderness
Author: Geordie Willis
Wilderness is a different sort of festival. Set in the bucolic grounds of Cornbury Park, a Cotswolds country estate in the heart of Oxfordshire, this four-day extravaganza of art, music and gastronomy is as wonderfully refreshing as a spot of wild swimming in the Cornbury lakes. Food is taken very seriously and any epicurean trophy-hunters will see the country’s best culinary talent in abundance. We were delighted to be collaborating with our friends Sager+Wilde to ensure that the vinous offering was commensurate with the pleasures of the plate.
To retrospectively whet the appetite, this years’ line-up was as follows: the Banqueting Hall played host to Angela Hartnett, Niklas Ekstedt and Raymond Blanc; while the Chef’s Table saw Nuno Mendes (Taberna do Mercado), Scott Hallsworth (Kurobuta), Neil Borthwick (Merchants Tavern) and James Knappett (Kitchen Table) feed attendees a dizzying array of tasting dishes.
