The best places to drink wine in London
Author: Damian Carrington
With London Wine Week nearly upon us I thought I would share some of my favourite watering holes with you. The good news is that they will all be offering special deals and flights to customers bearing London Wine Week wristbands.
Founded by the dynamic duo of Charlie and Bret, Vinoteca has now expanded from its original site near Smithfield to five wine bars spread from Chiswick to the newly-opened and stunning King’s Cross site. You can buy LWW wristbands and taste tremendous wine flights at every branch.
Kensington and Fulham Wine Rooms
Our friends at both the Kensington and Fulham Wine Rooms are getting stuck into LWW by offering a special flight of ‘new wave’ South African wines entitled ‘The Swartland Revolution’ including Badenhorst’s Secateurs Chenin Blanc, Elementis’s skin-contact Chenin and the brilliant Sequillo red.
Hix Restaurants, including Tramshed
The various Hix restaurants around London (with the exception of Hix Mayfair) are offering a flight of Tonnix; three Portuguese wines created by chefs Mitch Tonks and Mark Hix – a generous black-fruited red, a fresh white with bright-citrus aromas, and a refreshing rosé. You do have to eat while drinking at Hix, but this trio of Iberian wines provides the perfect excuse.
Michael and Charlotte Sager-Wilde have changed the face of the modern wine bar in London; firstly with the eponymous Sager + Wilde, and more recently with Mission E2. The flights will change every night at both site and we can’t wait to see what makes the cut.
London Wine Week wristbands are available to purchase in our London Shop, priced at £10. We will be opening wines throughout the week, holding a Secret Sale and hosting Wine Tasting Games on Friday 22nd May.
