Summer libations: Vintage Summer
Author: Amanda Baxter
At 40 percent alcohol, The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve is unusually fragrant and soft in style, with red-berry fruits and a finish offering both nuttiness and honeyed vanilla. Whisky-lovers may be horrified at our contamination of such a delicious dram, but a whisky cocktail is a great way of introducing more reticent whisky drinkers to the spirit, as well as being food-friendly.
This recipe is bursting with summer flavours, with uplifting citrus notes from the Fino Sherry and Lillet. We suggest you shake these up and serve instead of wine with white fish in a citrus sauce.
- 50ml The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve
- 50ml pink grapefruit juice
- 20ml Lillet Blanc
- 5ml Fino Sherry
- 5ml sugar syrup
Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker (if you don’t have one, a jar will do) with lots of ice and shake hard.
Strain (with a small sieve or just hold back the ice) into a martini glass and add a curl of grapefruit peel over the top for a lovely summer aroma.
